Small group activities

Magazine Letter Hunt

Beginning: Today for small group, we’re going to be looking at old magazines and flyers from supermarkets.
Middle: Look in a magazine for letters you know. Highlight them, cut and paste them on a paper to create a collage.
·   I wonder how many ‘L or name any other letter’ you have found?
·   You can say ”Oh, I found my letter” (Your child will be encouraged to find his/ her own)
·   Acknowledge your child’s work by stating what they are doing.
·   Offer your child scissors, allow them to cut what they want and place them in a bowl or basket.
·   Ask your child, “What do you think we can do with these letters?”
·   Offer them a glue stick and a piece of paper.
End: Give your child a 5 minutes warning to end the activity.
